Ziya Əhmədcanoviç Kurmakayev (1911-1981) was an Azerbaijani-Soviet statesman who held several key positions including Chairman of the State Labor Committee of Azerbaijan SSR (1976–1980) and Minister of Automobile Transport (1950–1953). Born in Tatar Şmalak, he moved to Baku early in life, completed his education, and served in various political roles within the Soviet Union. He participated in World War II, later becoming a member of the Communist Party and receiving numerous honors for his contributions.
