Konstantin Iliev Kanev was a Bulgarian priest and regional historian, known as the 'Rodopian Sophronius'. Born on February 26, 1917, in Momchilovtsi, he graduated from the Plovdiv Spiritual Seminary in 1939 and became a parish priest in 1941. He conducted systematic research on local history and published narratives and essays in various magazines. In 1975, his major work 'The Past of Momchilovtsi Village' was published. He was posthumously honored as an honorary citizen of Smolyan in 1998. His works include collections such as 'Rodopian Tales'.
