Valentin Oleksandrovych Kedrus is a Ukrainian scientist born in April 1920 in Yekaterinoslav. He became a Doctor of Technical Sciences in 1972 and a professor in 1973. Kedrus was honored with the State Prize of the Ukrainian SSR in 1981 for co-authoring the textbook 'Fundamentals of Information Theory and Coding' in 1977. He graduated from the Military Air Academy in 1944 and has been teaching at the Kharkiv Institute of Engineers of Railway Transport since 1976, focusing on automated control theory and information coding.
