Vasily Ivanovich Lyashenko was a Soviet physicist and professor born on February 12, 1902, in Nosovka, and died on March 18, 1975, in Kyiv. He graduated in 1928 from the Kyiv Institute of People's Education and later worked at Kyiv National University, where he headed the Department of Semiconductor Physics and served as a professor. Notably, he discovered the phenomena of depletion and enrichment in semiconductor contact layers in 1938. He defended his doctoral thesis in 1956 and was a laureate of the State Prize of the Ukrainian SSR in science and technology in 1970.
