Leonid Georgievich Matkeviy (October 26, 1935 - May 30, 2019) was a Ukrainian and Soviet archaeologist and a Doctor of Historical Sciences. He was born in Horlivka, Donetsk Oblast. Throughout his career, Matkeviy contributed significantly to archaeology in Ukraine and was recognized for his scholarly work in the field. His passing marked the end of a notable career in historical research and archaeology.
