Zinoviy Lazarovich Ostrovskiy (1930—1996) was a Soviet and Ukrainian editor, screenwriter, and critic born in Kyiv. He graduated from the philology faculty of Odessa University in 1953 and the script faculty of the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography in 1967. He served as editor and screenwriter at the Odessa film studio starting in 1959. Ostrovskiy authored the book 'Odessa. Sea. Cinema: Pages of History,' and wrote numerous articles for magazines and newspapers. He was a member of the Union of Cinematographers of Ukraine.
