Mikhail Fyodorovich Semko was a Ukrainian Soviet mechanical engineer and educator born on October 1, 1906, in the village of Balyassne, Poltava Governorate. He served as the rector of the Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute named after V.I. Lenin. Semko was recognized as a Hero of Socialist Labor in 1976 and earned a Doctorate in Technical Sciences in 1968. He passed away on September 9, 1979, in Moscow.
