Mykola Romanovych Hrehoitsky is a prominent Ukrainian physiologist born on April 12, 1952, in the village of Vyshenka, Lviv Oblast. He earned his Doctor of Medical Sciences degree in 1999 and became a professor the same year. He has served as the head of the Department of Normal Physiology since 1999, and was dean of the medical faculty from 1995 to 1998. Grehoytsky was appointed first vice-rector in 1998, and he is recognized as a Honored Figure of Science and Technology of Ukraine since 2002. He has been a full member of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences since 2002.
