Sheikh Ahmed Abu Al-Maati (February 1, 1939 - October 22, 2011) was an eminent Egyptian Quran reciter, born in the village of Al-Jawadiyah in Dakahlia Governorate. He memorized the Quran at a young age and began performing at just twelve years old. Ahmed studied musical modes under a music teacher at the old Balqas Secondary School. In the mid-1980s, he joined Egyptian radio but faced restrictions on TV performances that led to a legal battle. He returned to TV after passing tests and receiving recognition for his excellent performance.
