Plamen Lyubomirov Bonchev is a Bulgarian diplomat with a career focused on international security. He graduated from the English Language High School in Vidin in 1976 and obtained a degree in International Relations from MGIMO, Moscow in 1983, later earning a doctoral degree in history. Bonchev served as the Director of NATO and International Security at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2004-2006) and was the Ambassador to Finland and Estonia (2006-2010). He has been an Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Georgia since 2012.
