Vasily Ivanovich Akulenko, born in 1937 in the Pochep District of Bryansk Oblast, Russia, is a labor veteran and Hero of Socialist Labor (1980). After completing his education at the Bryansk Oblast Agricultural Mechanization School, he moved to Kazakhstan in 1956 to participate in land development. He worked for many years as a tractor driver at the Baumann state farm in what is now Egin'dykol District. He was a deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR and a laureate of the State Prize of Kazakhstan (1986), having received various orders and medals.
