Meiram Asylgazy (born November 7, 1948, in Akkol village, Ekibastuz, Pavlodar region - 1999) was a Kazakh writer and journalist who graduated from the journalism faculty of Kazakh National University. He worked at the regional newspaper 'Kyzyl Tu' until 1978, then became an editor and department head at 'Zhalyn' publishing house. From 1991 to 1995, he was the chief editor of 'Oner' publishing house, followed by a tenure at 'Zhibek Zholy'. Asylgazy published his first short story in 1978 and released several collections throughout his career.
