Erden Nygmetuly Azirbaev (July 12, 1912 – January 14, 1975) was a Kazakh chemist and professor known for his contributions to organic synthesis and the chemical industry. He earned a doctorate in chemistry in 1961 and became a professor in 1962. Azirbaev initiated important research on acetylene derivatives and the synthesis of organic compounds. He held various positions, including the director of the Institute of Chemistry and Metallurgy of the Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan. He patented 81 inventions and received several awards for his work, including the Order of the Red Banner of Labour.
