Oh Ja-bok (吳滋福) was a South Korean politician and military officer who served as Minister of National Defense during the presidency of Roh Tae-woo. Born on June 16, 1930, he became the first Army general among the Army's first commissioned officers. He held various prominent positions including military commander and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He was involved in significant educational reforms during the Chun Doo-hwan government in the 1980s. In 2005, he resigned as chairman of an association of retired generals following controversy regarding his grandson's renunciation of South Korean citizenship.
