Danilo Kekić, known as Daka, was born in Čurug in 1918 and passed away in Novi Sad in 1999. He was a participant in the National Liberation Struggle and a socio-political worker in the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, the Socialist Republic of Serbia, and the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina. Daka served as the President of the Presidency of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina from May 1982 to May 1983.
