Ömer Saatçioğlu was a Turkish academician born on June 30, 1939, in Ankara and passed away on April 26, 2022. He graduated from METU's Business and Mechanical Engineering departments and became an Assistant Professor in 1971, an Associate Professor in 1977, and a Professor in 1985. He served as the rector of METU from 1987 to 1992 and as the President of the Council of Higher Education between 1988 and 1989. He continued teaching until his retirement in 2006 and was a member of the Senate at TOBB ETU.
