Pantaʊz Chronopoulos was a retired chief guard of the Greek Police and served as the Mayor of Zaharo from October 2002 to July 2010. He faced suspension by the Ministry of Interior but ran again in the 2010 elections, winning but unable to officially serve. Despite this, he asserted influence in local politics. He was elected mayor again in May 2014 for a fourth term, although limited due to legal issues. Pantaʊz passed away on May 30, 2024, at the age of 77.
