Karuppur M. Annamalai (born September 18, 1948) is a Tamil writer from the Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu. He is a graduate of Thiruvaiyaru Raja College and served as a Tamil teacher for 33 years before retiring. Annamalai has authored over 70 books under the pseudonym 'Ponni', and his works can be found in libraries both in Tamil Nadu and abroad, including Singapore. His book 'Education in Tamil Nadu then and now' received an award from the Tamil Nadu government's Department of Tamil Development in 2005.
