Wimal Sockanathan (30 June 1944 – 1 August 2023) was a radio artist and broadcaster who first entered the arts at a young age through an artistic family. He began acting in children's flower dramas and appeared in many stage plays. He worked as an announcer at Sri Lanka Radio for a long time. After immigrating to England, he continued as a broadcaster with BBC Tamil Service. In addition to his broadcasting career, he studied law and ran a legal firm in London. His twin sister, Yoka Thilainathan, is a notable event organizer.
