Zhminko graduated from the Brest Pedagogical Institute in 1967 and retired as a colonel in the internal affairs department in 1994. He was a member of the Union of Belarusian Writers since 2008 and published several poetry collections, earning the Literary Honey Prize in 2008 for his works.
