Dattaji Tamhanne (April 13, 1913 – April 6, 2014) was a prominent Indian freedom fighter and politician from Maharashtra. Born in Ratnagiri, he actively participated in the freedom struggle, joining movements like the Non-Cooperation Movement and the Quit India Movement. He was imprisoned for 2.5 years for his activism. After independence, he joined the Socialist Party and served as the head of its Maharashtra office. Tamhanne published a weekly called 'Lokmitra' and wrote a book on customary laws. He remained unmarried and dedicated his life to social and political causes until his death at 101.
