He graduated from the Dnipropetrovsk Chemical Technology Institute in 1938 and worked at the Novo-Ordzhonikidze Coke Chemical Plant. During WWII, he was evacuated to Magnitogorsk, where he advanced to become the head of coking production. Under his leadership, his department became the largest in the USSR for coke and chemical products, innovating in mechanization and technology.
