He holds a Bachelor's degree in Persian language and literature from the University of Tehran, along with a Master's and a Ph.D. in Business Management from Islamic Azad University. Zarehani served as a representative in the first Iranian parliament from 1980 to 1984. He held various positions in the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, including Deputy Minister of Culture and President of Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization.
