Gu Xiaosheng (May 6, 1918 – February 6, 2012) was a renowned Chinese environmental engineering expert and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. After graduating from Jiao Tong University's civil engineering department in 1941, he taught at various universities, including Shanghai Datong University and Tsinghua University. He made significant contributions to organic wastewater treatment technologies, particularly through the use of autotrophic sulfur bacteria for biological desulfurization, as well as methane fermentation and sulfur recovery. He was elected as an academician in 1995.
