Şövkət Şahbaz qızı Səlimova was an Azerbaijani economist and a notable women ship captain, born on December 25, 1920, in Lahıc, Shamakhi. She became a research candidate in economic sciences in 1964. During World War II, she was one of only two women ship captains in the world, marking a significant achievement in maritime history.
