Vardan Sergei Hasratyan was an Armenian engineer-constructor and engineer-colonel born on March 12, 1917, in Shushi, then part of the Elizavetpol Governorate in the Russian Empire. He earned his doctorate in technical sciences in 1967 and became a professor in 1968 after graduating from the Saint Petersburg Military Aviation Academy in 1943. He held various academic positions and conducted research focused on protective structures against the destructive effects of nuclear and other types of weapons.
