Bazarbaev held various positions within the Communist Party and later in the Kazakhstani government and industries, including Deputy Chairman at Karaganda Oblast Akim's Office and a member of the Mazhilis. He is a member of the Nur Otan Party and has received honors such as the Order of Kurmet. Bazarbaev is married and has four children.
