She graduated from the Almaty Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages in 1973 and further pursued her academic career there as a researcher and postgraduate student. Azhibekova has worked at various institutions including the Institute of Linguistics of the USSR Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Linguistics of the Kazakh Academy of Sciences. She has published around 20 scientific articles and one monograph.
