Iosif Cheptănaru (1903-1989) was a Moldovan Soviet sculptor known for his work in decorative and monumental sculpture. He graduated from the Bucharest Academy of Arts in 1933 and lived in Chișinău from 1948. Notable works include busts of Alexandru Donici and Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu, both erected in Chișinău. His other significant pieces include the monumental sculptures 'Doina' and 'Sad Mother.' He was also a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR since 1947. His daughter, Maya Iosifovna Serbinova, is also an artist.
