Anatoly Nikolayevich Savelyev (April 25, 1946 – December 20, 1997) was a Colonel of the KGB USSR and FSB of Russia, known for being the Chief of Staff of the Alpha Group in the Russian Federal Security Service. He served in the Alpha Group since its inception in 1974, actively participating in operations including those in Afghanistan and the North Caucasus. During a hostage rescue operation in December 1997, he suffered a heart attack and passed away. He was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the Russian Federation.
