Pyotr Ochirovich Chonkushov (December 7, 1930, Moscow, USSR – May 6, 1998) was a Soviet and Russian composer. He was honored as a distinguished artist of the Kalmyk ASSR in 1980 and the RSFSR in 1991. In 1996, he was awarded the Order of Friendship. Chonkushov is recognized as the first professional composer from Kalmykia, contributing significantly to the cultural landscape of the region.
