Alexander Andreyevich Shabalin (born July 15, 1938, in Pukhavichy, Minsk Region, BSSR, USSR; died December 2013, Minsk) was a Soviet Belarusian state figure, writer, journalist, and athlete. He served as the head of the Federation of Checkers of Belarus and was an international arbiter in checkers. Shabalin was a member of the USSR Union of Journalists since 1967 and worked as an instructor in the propaganda department, later becoming an assistant to the secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Belarus from 1971 to 1978.
