Aram Artashes Shahinyan was an Armenian physicist and physical chemist, born on June 26, 1938, in Yerevan, Armenian SSR, USSR. He earned his doctorate in chemical sciences in 1982 and in physical and mathematical sciences in 1992. He became a professor in 1990 and was elected as a corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia in 2000, later becoming an academician. He was recognized as a distinguished scientist of Armenia in 2009. He is the son of mathematician, academician, and educator Artashes Shahinyan.
