Babken Simonovich Vardapetyan was an Armenian Soviet geologist born on December 26, 1906, in Gandzak, Caucasus Viceroyalty, Russian Empire. He achieved the title of Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences in 1962 and became a professor in 1963. He was honored as a distinguished figure in science and technology of the Armenian SSR in 1961. Vardapetyan made significant contributions to the field of geology and was a prominent figure in his scientific community.
