Grigor Karapeti Samvelyan (March 8, 1915 - December 4, 2005) was an Armenian linguist born in the Ordubad region of Yerevan Province in the Caucasus Viceroyalty, Russian Empire. He earned a doctorate in philology in 1985 and became a professor in 1987. Throughout his career, he contributed significantly to the field of linguistics and was recognized for his contributions to higher education in the Soviet Union and Armenia.
