Aram Artemowitsch Merangulyan was an Armenian composer and conductor, born on June 8, 1902, in Chananab and died on November 17, 1967, in Yerevan. He led folk music groups from 1922 to 1926 and became the artistic director of the Armenian Radio Committee's folk instrumental ensemble in 1926. He graduated from the composition class of V. G. Talyan at the Yerevan Conservatory in 1943. In 1959, he was honored as a People's Artist of the Armenian SSR.
