He worked at various agricultural research institutes and advised on agricultural matters for the Soviet embassy in India, collecting over 5000 plant specimens. From 1970 to 1979, he served as the director of the Leningrad Library of the USSR Academy of Sciences. His research focused on cotton cultivation and genetics, and he was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor.
