Vardan Bagrat Akunts is an Armenian allergist born on December 10, 1937, in Goris, Armenian SSR, USSR. He obtained his Doctor of Medical Sciences degree in 2000 and became a professor in 2003. He has served as the chief allergologist of the Ministry of Health of Armenia since 1969. Akunts has been the editor-in-chief of the 'Healthy Generation' medical-ecological journal since 1993 and founded the 'Eco-Zil' medical-ecological charity organization, also in 1993. He is the brother of doctor Karl Akunts.
