Vasyl Yeliozarovich Prozhogin was a Ukrainian Soviet politician and journalist, born on May 19, 1906, in the city of Oryol, now in Russia. He served as a candidate member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine from May 1940 until January 1949. Prozhogin earned a Candidate of Philological Sciences degree in 1949 and was an associate professor and later a professor at Kyiv State University named after Taras Shevchenko. He passed away on September 9, 1980, in Kyiv.
