He was elected a corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in 1985 and later became an academician of both the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in 1990 and the Ukrainian Academy of Agricultural Sciences in 1991. He passed away on February 23, 2006.
