Viktor Yakovlevich Ostrenko (1917–1994) was a prominent Ukrainian metallurgist during the Soviet era. He was elected a corresponding member of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences in 1978. Ostrenko graduated from the Dnipropetrovsk Metallurgical Institute in 1941 and worked at the All-Union Research Institute and Design Technology Institute of the Pipe Industry in Dnipropetrovsk starting in 1947. His work focused on the development of theory and technology for seamless pipe production, and he held over 40 patents for his inventions.
