Раиса Петровна Горшкова, born on January 24, 1931, is a Russian chemist recognized for her research on carbohydrates and polysaccharides. She graduated from the Ural Forestry Technical Institute in 1949 and has worked in various positions within the Far Eastern Branch of the Soviet Academy of Sciences, eventually becoming a leading researcher. Notably, she established the structures of O-specific polysaccharides from specific pseudotuberculosis microbes and received the I.I. Mechnikov Prize in 1993 for her significant contributions to immunochemistry.
