Desanka 'Desa' Glišić was one of the first Serbian and Yugoslav women cartoonists, often referred to as the first lady of Serbian caricature. She worked alongside renowned male colleagues, including Pjero Križanić and Zuko Džumhur. By 1941, only a small fraction of the Serbian Journalists Association's members were women, and few continued their careers after World War II. Glišić is also recognized among the top hundred significant Serbian journalists in the 'Two Centuries of Serbian Journalism' monograph.
