Zinaida Katkova was a Mari singer and journalist born on March 7, 1922, in the Mari Autonomous Oblast of the RSFSR. She gained recognition for her contributions to Mari music and journalism. Katkova was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the USSR in 1971, the People's Artist of the Mari ASSR in 1992, and received the Order of the Red Banner of Labour in 1982. She passed away on December 8, 2004, in Yoshkar-Ola, Mari El.
