Ashot Lvovich Badalov was a Soviet and Russian engineer and scientist, born on January 8, 1915, in Banazur (currently Binadarasi), Elizabethpol Province. He was one of the creators of the Soviet satellite communications system and served as Deputy Minister of Communications of the USSR from 1963 to 1991. Badalov held a Candidate of Technical Sciences degree and was an academician of the International Academy of Informatization. He received several honorary titles including Honored Communicator of the Russian Federation and Honorary Radio Operator of the USSR.
