Galina Konstantinovna Stepanovskaya was a prominent Soviet and Ukrainian obstetrician-gynecologist, born on May 19, 1922, in Staryy Pikiv. She became a professor in 1970 and served as the head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology No. 1 at KMI from 1974 to 1990. Recognized for her contributions to science, she was awarded the title of Honored Scientist of Ukraine in 1987 and received the State Prize of Ukraine. Stepanovskaya was also an elected corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and a member of the European Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
