Ivan Atanasijević (1919–1998) was a Serbian scientist and founder of radio astronomy in Serbia. He pioneered the detection of galactic radio emissions and introduced astrophysics as a separate subject at the University of Belgrade. Born into a prominent lawyer family, he was exposed to science early on. He studied in Belgrade and Paris, working with French pioneer Marc Lafin on radio emission measurements of the Milky Way. He later became a professor at Nijmegen University in the Netherlands, recognized as a world pioneer in galactic radio astronomy.
