Andrey Andreevich Gostev, born on December 28, 1950, in Voronezh, is a Russian psychologist and a Doctor of Psychological Sciences. He is a leading researcher at the Laboratory of the History of Psychology and Historical Psychology at the Russian Academy of Sciences' Institute of Psychology. A student of B.F. Lomov and a representative of the Leningrad School of Psychology, he specializes in the psychology of representations (secondary images) and the role of imagery in the inner world of personality, as well as being one of the founders of Russian transpersonal psychology.
