Horen Chibichyan, born on April 8, 1913, in Chaltyr, was a notable Soviet wrestler specializing in sambo, freestyle, and Greco-Roman wrestling. He won medals in the Soviet Championships for sambo and freestyle wrestling and was a master of sports in these disciplines. Chibichyan was a distinguished coach and an international referee. A graduate of the State Central Order of Lenin Institute of Physical Culture, he fought in World War II and received honors including the Order of the Patriotic War II Class and the Medal for Battle Merit. He passed away on September 16, 2001.
