Արկադի Մուրադի Կարապետյան, born in 1958 in Stepanakert, is a prominent military figure and participant in the Artsakh War. He graduated high school in 1975 and completed veterinary studies in 1980. He was involved in the national liberation movement starting in 1975, leading a secret liberation organization in 1978. He served in the Soviet army from 1980 to 1982, held various government positions from 1984 to 1988, and became the commander of Artsakh self-defense forces between 1990 and 1992.
